Members Start Page
New members: please be sure to read the whole of this page. It will help you get started using ClipCopy by offering tips about what to look for and where, how to navigate the site, and describes some of the features of our service that you might otherwise miss. (Current members can access the Members Area by using the button above).
Please Note: This Is A Sample Page!
This page is basically the same as its equivalent in the Members Area, except that some of the links don't work (they are for members only). This is deliberate and is our way of showing you what ClipCopy is all about and how the site is organized. To join ClipCopy Content Solutions, or to learn more, click Home in the menu.
Keyword Searching
Use the Search Box below to find ClipCopy items that contain specific words or phrases. The results will show up on a new page, or pages if there are more than 10 matches. You can click your browser's Back button to return here for another search or to refine the current one. If an item in the search results list looks as if it may be what you want, simply click on the hyperlink (in blue) after the item list number to view the actual file.
Search Tips
Keep your searches as simple as possible, at least to start with. If a search returns a large number of items in the search results list, then try a more precise keyword or phrase. A search for the word dog, for example, finds 97 ClipCopy items that feature that word. If you refine it by searching for the phrase "hot dog", it will produce only 10 results. By default the search engine tries to locate pages which have exact matches for all of the words entered in your search query. If that fails, it then tries to locate pages which contain any words in your search query. If that happens a short message is displayed at the top of the search results indicating this has been done.
In addition, there are several ways to modify the default search behavior:
- Choose ClipArticles or ClipFillers rather than the default 'All ClipCopy'
ClipFeatures are included in the ClipArticles results for searching purposes. - PLUS and MINUS qualifiers
If a word is prepended with +, that word is required to be in the text of a file.
If a word is prepended with -, that word is required to not be in the text of a file.
Example: -life +insurance will find all files containing the word insurance but not if life appears on the page. - The STAR wildcard
If a query word ends with a *, all words in the text of a file which start the same as that query word will match.
Example: insur* will find files containing the words insure, insurance, insuring etc. - The QUERY wildcard
If a query word contains a ?, any single character can match that position.
Example: ?nsure would find files containing the words insure, ensure etc. - QUOTES qualifiers
If a phrase is enclosed in "", the search will be for any phrase that exactly matches it.
Example: "life insurance" will find all files containing the exact phrase life insurance.
Navigating The Site
An alternative to searching for words and phrases that appear in the ClipCopy Library files is to use the navigation links in the Menu in the upper left margin of most pages. All the items are 'clickable'. The Menu headings are explained in more detail below.
There is also a Site Map which can be accessed by clicking the Help & Guidance heading in the Menu.
Menu Heading
Menu items under the main menu heading lead to the page you are on now, the home page for visitors, and other administrative areas including our huge list of other Content Providers (available only to members).
Main Sections
These menu items remain the same wherever you are on the site and lead to all the main areas.
SubGroups
The menu items in this sub-menu change according to the page you are on. For instance, if you click on Newsletter Features in the Main Sections it will take you to Finding Suitable Newsletter Feature Articles and under SubGroups you will then see the pages you can access from there, such as Business Features, Health Features etc.
